Heifer’s Values-Based Holistic Community Development (VBHCD) model is structured around the idea of the need for personal transformation in tandem with asset placement and infrastructure development.
The major components of this approach include, but are not limited to:
- Strengthening social capital for program support
- Training in the 12 Cornerstones for Just and Sustainable Development
- Passing on the Gift of assets or knowledge
- Participatory Self-review and Planning (PSRP) within the community
- Transforming individual focus into a community mindset
